The cost of delivering services will exceed local council core funding by £2bn this year. @NewcastleCC has a £56m funding gap on top of cuts of £369m since 2010
I asked the SoS if constituents can rely on council services under the Tories. He started talking about Thatcher…????????♀️ pic.twitter.com/Qxn8KlC04b

To be fair Keir Starmer is the person who opened the discussion about Thatcherism.
Thatcherism is the root of many of the social and economic problems in the North East.
She destroyed the influence of trade unions and signalled the end of traditional engineering and mining industries decimating communities relying on these for their income.
The sale of social housing stock and privatisation of services such as transport, water, energy etc has had a significant effect on this region.
Keir May think that he will attract Tory voters but he may alienate traditional Labour voters. There are some Tories who would never vote Labour and Labour voters who may stay away from the polling stations.
He needs to be careful or his preferred outcome may be undone by him praising the policies that many in traditional Labour areas still find abhorrent.
His undemocratic stance on selection of Labour candidates may also undermine the voters in constituencies like yours.
I never thought that I would be wondering whether Labour is truly reflective of working class voters but I am.
