The North East faces huge health inequalities, it is important we are part of clinical trials for new treatments & medicines. When I asked the Minister she claimed the govt are taking steps to ensure representative participation, particularly for areas with the greatest disease burden; yet when I asked how many patients were recruited from each NHS Trust she wouldn’t tell me . Either she doesn’t have the data or she is embarrassed about it. Whatever the reason, its not what she promised.
