As Coronavirus cases rise in the North East new measures have been put in place. Some of these restrictions include
• No socialising with anyone outside of your own household bubble
• Restaurants and hospitality to operate using table service only for food and drink
• A curfew for leisure and entertainment businesses, with closing times operating between 10pm and 5am
Details can be found here
I know these measures will cause concern and involve sacrifices for many of my constituents. It is essential that we do everything that we can to stop the spread of the virus and everyone has their part to play. Government must play its part too, supporting people to do the right thing and getting test and trace working. We need greater local authority involvement test and trace to find where the virus is and ensure the safety of us all.
Along with 15 other North East Labour MPs I have written to the Government to get urgent answers on test and trace, the furlough scheme, financial support for businesses and local authority resources. I will share the answers with you as soon as we receive them from the Government. These restrictions have been put in place to protect public health and I urge everybody to follow the rules and recommendations to protect each other.
