Chi backs more apprenticeships

Chi strongly supports Apprenticeship Week as it offers a great opportunity to emphasise the importance of skills, technical and practical education; to celebrate the achievements of apprentices; and to promote Labour’s plans to boost apprenticeship opportunities.

Labour is calling on the government to adopt our plan to use public procurement to boost apprenticeship numbers. This would mean that private companies bidding for government contracts worth over £1million would have to have high-quality apprenticeship schemes in place as part of the bid.

 Benefits of apprenticeships:

Apprenticeships are of enormous benefit, not only for each apprentice but also for the businesses training them. They can fill a skills gap and allow businesses the opportunity to tailor their workforce around their specific needs, as well as providing real returns to the bottom line through increased productivity and competitiveness.

Apprentices have the opportunity to learn on the job, building up knowledge and skills, gaining qualifications and earning money all at the same time. They’ll have excellent prospects for the future because they will have gained the knowledge and experience that employers really value.
