We owe it to our children to continue our country’s tradition of healthcare innovation
We owe it to our children to continue our country’s tradition of healthcare innovation. My keynote speech at Policy_Projects genomics conference highlighted how Labour’s NHS mission would support patients to benefit from game-changing medical innovations https://publicpolicyprojects.com/shadow-minister-calls-for-uk-to-fulfil-its-duty-to-realise-genomics-potential/
Great to visit St Vincent’s beside Byker Bridge
Great to visit St Vincent’s beside Byker Bridge to see the fantastic work they do supporting communities in Newcastle. They provide up to 185 free hot meals at their drop in lunch every Tuesday! I even got to buy a lovely hand made Xmas wreath ahead of their Christmas Market on Dec 7th
Israel-Palestine : the UK must play its part in achieving a lasting & just peace
An appalling humanitarian catastrophe is unfolding in Gaza. The focus must be getting aid to the suffering. We urgently need a humanitarian pause, now When the bombing does stop, the UK must play its part in achieving a lasting & just peace. I asked the Minister what he would do pic.twitter.com/GSKLVpLb5B — Chi Onwurah ???? (@ChiOnwurah) November 8, […]

Brilliant tour of Hadrian Border Brewery in Newburn
It was brilliant to tour Hadrian Border Brewery in Newburn & get the inside track on how excellent ales such as Tyneside Blonde & Farne Island are brewed in Newcastle. And they’re proud to be a Living Wage employer. #ThinkLocalDrinkLocal
Great visiting the fabulous volunteer cafe (every Thursday) at St James’ and St Basil’s in Fenham
Had a great time visiting the Church of St James’ and St Basil’s in Fenham, who run a fabulous volunteer led café every Thursday. I recommend the homemade soup & also enjoyed a quick impromptu organ lesson, though not sure everyone listening appreciated it!
U-turn on rail ticket office closures – but closures should never have been considered in the first place
The government has been forced to U-turn on rail ticket office closures following a concentrated campaign by Labour & many others. This is good news, but these plans should never have been put forward in the first place. What a waste of time and taxpayer’s money
We need automatic big fines for any sewage discharges
I asked the Minister if hardy Geordie #NorthSea swimmers (inc me!) should have to worry about water quality due to bad practices by UK water companies, & whether Govt would implement Labour’s plan for automatic fines for discharges. Minister thought everything was just fine! pic.twitter.com/J4CMvJufVV — Chi Onwurah ???? (@ChiOnwurah) October 19, 2023
