It was great to return to Westerhope’s PureGym and keep up the staff’s tradition of collecting rubber ducks from around the world – I brought a new mascot from NASA! The team do excellent charity work in Newcastle including leading the warm up at Cancer Research’s Race for Life.

Grainger Market is one my favourite places in the world, so it was great to tour it with officers from Newcastle City Council hearing about the exciting plans for the Market and speak to traders in what is one of the jewels of Newcastle’s vibrant city centre.

Like many of you I’ve been concerned to see shopping streets in Newcastle Central and West increasingly taken over by betting and vape shops. I’m pleased the Government is giving councils and communities more power over our high streets.
