Apprenticeship summary

£151.88 – £264.38

The current National Minimum Wage rates are £4.05 an hour for 16 – 17 year olds, £5.60 an hour for 18 – 20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship(usually one day per week).

Responsibilities under supervision will include:

  • Use of Microsoft Word & Excel to produce and maintain documents, correspondence, spreadsheets and databases and bulk mailings
  • Use of Outlook e-mail, contacts & calendar for communication and diary management
  • Use of Word Press to publish data on casework as pie charts to web site
  • Use of Social media – Facebook and Twitter
  • Answering the telephone, speaking to callers, taking messages and forwarding appropriately
  • Speaking to visitors to the constituency office
  • Use of internet/Parliamentary intranet for research
  • Opening and directing post and preparing outgoing mail
  • Photocopying & Scanning
  • Maintaining filing system and creating archives
  • Maintaining records of stationery supplies
  • Training to use Caseworker software in order to input and retrieve data, create responses & produce mail outs
  • To undertake other duties as directed

The applicant must work well in a team, have confidence in dealing with a range of situations and people, work accurately and methodically, have good interpersonal, planning and organisational skills.

National minimum wage

Aged 16-17 £4.05/hr

Aged 18-20 £5.60/hr

Aged 21+ £7.05/hr
