Chi takes housing campaign to Westminster
Chi Onwurah MP for Newcastle Central has secured a special adjournment debate on
‘ Unoccupied houses available for private rental in Newcastle ’ in the House of Commons on Monday 12 November.
Chi sees this as a important step in her campaign on to improve access to affordable housing in Newcastle by freeing up empty homes in the private sector: https://chionwurahmp.com/2012/09/housing-launch/ .
The debate will take place in the main chamber of the House of Commons at 10pm.
Chi said “Housing is the number one reason why constituents contact me and it has such an impact on peoples’ lives.
” Everyone deserves a decent place to live, which is why I’m pleased to be taking the issue to the heart of government.
Ms Onwurah is keen to hear from anyone with examples of empty homes in Newcastle which need to be brought back into use.
