Chi spoke up for Firefighters today during a Parliamentary debate on fire service funding.
She argued that not only do they do an excellent job in tackling all kinds or emergencies but that their achievement in preventive work is outstanding.
Chi said:
“I recently visited the fire station at Elswick in my constituency, where I was impressed by firefighters’ bravery and dedication, and by their commitmen to serve the community and to do as much to prevent fire as to put it out.”
She added:
“losing firefighters of that calibre will undoubtedly cost more in lives, property and money in the long run than it will save.”
