    Dear Chi
This current debate on women’s pensions is a subject close to my heart and I’d like to make a request that you back the current proposal to allow those of us in our late 50’s to have a fairer ‘end’ to our working lives.
I have worked as a nurse since 1972, sometimes part time when my children were small, I have contributed to the govt and nhs schemes and now find that the goal posts will be moved without my consultation. At no time have I had any official paperwork to tell me that the age rise will happen and how it will impact upon me. So much for planning for retirement.
Added to this I have to deal with a diagnosis of cancer, and discover that the ‘window’ of health i might expect will now be swallowed up by the need to work until I am 66.
I am now 57 financially I can not afford to give up work despite contributing to the scheme for the last 39 years.
    Yours Sincerely
    Helen Watkinson

    1. I saw you at the recent BEN TV Conference, You mentioned something about a Nigerian arts event you plan to put on at the House of Commons, can you elaborate on it?

    2. Are there any African Caribbean mediums in Newcastle?

    3. Any Nigerian/Igbo organisations in Newcastle

I was at the Red Book launch last night and enjoyed it very much. As a retired development industrial chemist I was very interested in you, and audience comments on prospects for science followers. I was also interested in your comprisons with Germany. Having talked to many chemists all over the continent I know that, unless we value and pay our scientists as they do, we will continue to lose valuable scientists to management, financial services etc. The latest disclosure that engineering vocational courses will be downgraded as a GCSE certification will not help. I am a N. Durham constituent.
